Life, what is it but a dream?
A boat beneath a sunny sky,
Lingering onward dreamily
Eager eyes and willing ears,
Pleased a simple tale to enjoy
each time we’re the two, together
Long has paled that sunny sky:
Echoes fade and memories die:
she made dreamed me to ‘ve her
Alive moving under skies
Never seen by waking eyes.
Still she haunts me, phantomwise
Like the children that nestle near
Autumn fresh have slain frosts
Summer lovingly shall nestle near
Fall and Winter yet, a tale to hear
Dreaming as the days go by,
Dreaming as the seasons die
Ever drifting down the stream
Lingering in the golden gleam
Life, what is it but a dream?
